Qigong in Washington, DC
Qigong for Washington, DC residents, about 10 miles away from our school in Kensington.
Looking for qigong in Washington, DC? Shaolin Hung Fut Kung Fu School teaches qigong to Washington, DC students of every age, about 10 miles away in Kensington — an easy trip from Connecticut Avenue (MD-185) and Rock Creek Parkway. Train in person on Nicholson Court, starting with a one-hour introductory class.
Our Qigong curriculum is extensive and comprehensive. It starts with Soft Qigong, highlighting breath and energy cultivation for focus, health and recovery, and continues into Hard Qigong, which incorporates traditional aspects of Iron Shirt and Golden Bell Qigong.
Soft Qigong is the internal, low-impact side of our traditional practice: slow, controlled movement paired with deliberate breathing to build focus, calm and steady conditioning. It pairs naturally with Tai Chi and is sustainable at any age. The basics are embedded in the Tai Chi curriculum and include Qigong Standing Postures, Wu Qin Xi (Five Animal Frolics) and Ba Duan Jin (Eight Pieces of Brocade).
Students may graduate to additional classes that cover extensive breath work, Qi development and movement techniques. More advanced classes feature the Yi Jin Jing, aspects of the Wu 108 Form, Hung Fut applications, the Iron Tendon and Buddha Palm forms, and the basics of the Five Elements.
