Self-Defense in Northern Virginia
Self-Defense for Northern Virginia residents, across the American Legion Bridge from our school in Kensington.
Looking for self-defense in Northern Virginia? Shaolin Hung Fut Kung Fu School teaches self-defense to Northern Virginia students of every age, across the American Legion Bridge in Kensington — an easy trip from American Legion Bridge and Capital Beltway (I-495). Train in person on Nicholson Court, starting with a one-hour introductory class.
Our self-defense training is built into the Kung Fu curriculum and drawn from the Ten Animal Styles. You learn practical technique through repetition, then pressure-test it in controlled sparring so it holds up when it matters, for students of every age and experience level.
We also offer seminars in Women's Self-Defense, Street Defense and Self-Awareness, designed to prevent dangerous situations before they escalate.
A short trip from Northern Virginia
We draw students from the Virginia side of the river too, crossing the American Legion Bridge and coming up the Beltway to the Rockville Pike exits, then one turn onto Nicholson Lane. From McLean, Tysons and Arlington it is a straightforward run outside the rush, and the tie is an old one: Sifu Tai Yim opened a second Hung Fut school in Fairfax, Virginia in the late 1980s.
From Northern Virginia the school is across the American Legion Bridge, at 4961 Nicholson Court in Kensington. Each enrolled adult student also gets a full access membership to the 20,000 sq ft gym we are located in, at no additional cost.
